The Tattersall's Cup is a 2400 metre Group 3 Set Weight + Penalties
race (for Three-Year-Olds and Over) that is run at Eagle Farm racecourse in Queensland, on Tattersall's race-day, on the final day of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

The first running of the Tattersalls Cup took place at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday, August 23rd 1924.
That inaugural running, over a distance of ten furlongs was won by
Mr C. C. McGrowdie’s three-year-old bay gelding, Serelot.
During WWII all Brisbane racing was conducted at Albion Park Racecourse, so, from 1943 to 1945 the Tattersall’s Cup was run at Albion Park over a reduced trip of 1 mile & 57 yds.
When the Tattersall’s Cup returned to Eagle Farm in 1946, its original distance of 10 furlongs was reinstated.
Further distance changes between 1946 and 1972 saw the Tatt’s Cup run at a range of distances that included 10, 11 and 10 ½ furlongs.
A scheduling change occurred in 1954 when the Cup was transferred from the spring to the winter carnival.
The introduction of the metric measures system in 1973 saw the distance of the Tattersalls Cup changed, as well as increased, from 10 ½ furlongs to 2200 metres.
The 2200 trip often fluctuated over the years by small amounts (6 metres to 70 metres) and although these fluctuations were mostly insignificant, I have included them on this page.
In 2020 the distance was permanently changed to 2400m.
Three horses have won the Tattersall’s Cup on more than one occasion:
Cool Gent 1957/58 – Winfreux 1966/67 & Vow And Declare 2019 & 2024.
Training honours for the Tattersalls Cup are split three-ways between Queensland’s own Tim Brosnan, Danny O’Brien and Chris Waller who have each saddled-up the winner on three occasions.

1973 was the first metric running of the Tattersall's Cup
Distance increased from 10 ½ furlongs to 2200m, weights changed from stone and pounds to kilograms
The introduction of the metric measures system in 1973 saw the distance of the Tattersalls Cup changed, as well as increased, from 10 ½ furlongs to 2200 metres.
The 2200m trip often fluctuated over the years by small amounts, these fluctuations ranged from 6 metres to 70 metres. In 2020 the distance was permanently increased to 2400m.
